I joined fellow anime voice actors John Swasey, Robert McCollum, Trina Nishimura, Chuck Huber, Cory J. Phillips, and Luke Gaither for a panel at Plus Ultra Expo! Cory from Take One Improv hosted a game called Recast, where he recast scenes from Harry Potter and had actors use character voices from shows like My Hero Academia, DBZ/DBGT, One Piece, Attack on Titan, Soul Eater, Borderlands 2, Paladins, and more. You’ll also find a few more surprises from your favorite actors in their character voices. And you’ve gotta see Trina’s impersonation of Eric Vale!

Take One Improv was founded in 2007 by Cory J. Phillips, whose initial intention in creating the group was because he did not want the fun to stop just because school was over. Cory has founded and recruited his team based not only on the right acting qualifications, but also on performers who share the same ideals, pursuits, and interests that he has. Other members of the group include: Danielle King, Aaron Michael, Roger Connelly II, John Gerhardt, Tiffany Gutierrez, Pallas Johnson, Katie Kochelek, Kelly Lawson, Kate Mclain-Snipes, Kyler Lee Johnson and Allegra Denes.

The group excels in both long-form and short-form improvisation. Their range of projects and performances consists of skits such as a Doctor Who fan series, improvised anime dubs, sketch comedies based on video game series, as well as a feature-length film. Their shows consist of different segments such as audience-engaging games, as well as making references based on nerd knowledge.

Due to the creativity and uniqueness that the group brings to their performances, Take One quickly grew from performing in local shows to traveling to conventions nationwide and performing in shows that have a packed room.

This panel with Take One Improv was filmed at Plus Ultra Expo! in Plano, Texas.
