Mods used:

In your War Thunder Install folder.
Locate the config.blk file.
Find the "Sound" heading.
(LOOKS LIKE THIS)
sound{
speakerMode:t="speakers7.1"
fmod_sound_enable:b=yes
}

Add this line of code below fmod_sound_enable → enable_mod:b=yes
so that it looks like this:

sound{
speakerMode:t="speakers5.1"
fmod_sound_enable:b=yes
enable_mod:b=yes
}

For anyone who is struggling to get this mod to work:
While in the main menu, go to options → sound
and change "Crew Language" to → "Game Options".
I had mine on "Crew Country" and it did not work.

(If it doesn't not work immediately, see below, and also, either try adding the new line of code before or after the 'fmod_sound_enable' line)
