A lot has been going on in the Boruto manga ever since Kawaki and Eida used their power to change reality itself, however with Boruto seeming like he has barely any allies, is there anywhere we can look to find hope for our main character? Well already we know that Sumire and Sarada aren’t affected by Eida’s ability, but is there someone else lurking in the background ready to help Boruto when he needs it most? If you recall there’s another character that was mostly able to resist Eida’s ability through a lot of effort, and that character would be Shikamaru. IF you’re a genius like Shikamaru and somehow you break free from Eida’s control, the smart thing to do would be to continue to play along and hope that nobody notices, while you wait for the right moment to play your hand and hopefully make a difference. Not being able to tell who to trust makes this all feel like Boruto’s own version of Secret Wars, where Ikemoto can play with character alliances in a way that never could’ve been done before in Naruto, and it has me excited. Do you think it’s possible that Shikamaru is actually free from Eida’s brainwashing and is just pretending to try and figure out what’s going on, or could there be ANOTHER character secretly waiting to help Boruto?
