Mazinger Z and Great Mazinger are both Japanese super robot manga and anime series created by manga artist Go Nagai. Mazinger Z is the first series and it was first released in 1972. Great Mazinger, which is a sequel to Mazinger Z, was released in 1974.

In the series, Mazinger Z is a giant robot created by Dr. Juzo Kabuto to defend the world from the evil forces of Dr. Hell. Great Mazinger is a successor to Mazinger Z and is piloted by Tetsuya Tsurugi, who works together with Koji Kabuto, the pilot of Mazinger Z.

The two series are related in that they are set in the same universe, with Great Mazinger being a direct sequel to Mazinger Z. Both series feature giant robots fighting against evil forces to protect the Earth, and they share some common themes and characters. However, they also have their unique features and storylines, and can be enjoyed independently of each other.
