With the new piracy laws in Japan which came into effect from January 1, 2021, anyone who posts a 'leaked' manga panel or a 'leaked' magazine cover on their social media accounts, will get a DMCA strike on that post. If you receive multiple of such strikes, your account will be permanently deleted from the social media, and if you try opening an alternate account, it'll be considered as violation of Twitter guidelines and you may be dragged to the court or pay a heavy fine.

This also applies to the pirated anime sites and manga hosting sites who host anime/manga illegally on their websites.

Since they're using bots to take down the tweets, they're confused what's official and what not. So, unfortunately, fanartists are being targetted too. There's no need to worry about GIFs, screenshots of anime (which is officially released already) and small manga panels since they come under Fair use. They'll switch to manual copystrike mode soon.

YOU JUST NEED TO SURVIVE TILL THEN!

They started with Dragon Ball, and slowly they're moving towards other anime like One Piece, My Hero Academia, Demon Slayer, and other titles that are published by Shueisha. Apparently, Kodansha, the manga publishing company of Attack on Titan, Sailor Moon, Fairy Tail, has started the same thing like Shueisha.

HOW TO BE SAFE?

There's no way you can be 100% safe. But here are some steps that'll help you: (according to me)

1. Go private & delete tweets where you use their manga panels (especially the LEAKED ones) & GIFs (if you want to) in last 2-3 months.

2. DON'T keep a 'manga' panel as your profile picture or header.

3. AVOID using 'leaked' manga panels or magazines cover in your YouTube videos.

4. AVOID posting 'any' manga panels (neither Official ones nor Leaked ones) for about a month, until all of this calms down a bit.
