- Vegeta Saves Goku From Android 19
Despite not yet being a good guy and fighting largely for his own self-interests, one of Vegeta's most shining moments came when he saved Goku from Android 19 after the heart virus Future Trunks had warned Goku about began to weaken him. Although Piccolo, Yamcha, Tien, Gohan, and Krillin were watching from the sidelines as Android 19 drained the life from Goku, none of them were strong enough to get past Android 20 and assist their Saiyan friend. Only another Super Saiyan could serve as adequate backup in such a grave situation.

He might have saved Goku just so he could have the opportunity to take him out later, but the fact remains that he still saved Goku's life when no one else could.

Vegeta Saves Goku From Meta-Cooler
When Goku first went up against Cooler, Vegeta was nowhere to be found. Fortunately for him, his Super Saiyan powers were enough to send Cooler straight into the sun. When he was later reborn as Meta-Cooler, the enhancements that he received from the Big Gete Star made him more than enough for a single Super Saiyan.

At one point, it looked like Goku was done for, with Meta-Cooler literally having him by the neck. If it weren't for Vegeta dropping in to force him from Meta-Cooler's clutches and combining his Super Saiyan powers with Goku's, everyone's favorite Saiyan wouldn't have stood a chance.


- Vegeta Saves Goku From Android 13's Attack - Dragon Ball Z
In the Dragon Ball Z movie Super Android 13!, Android 13 and his comrades were more than a match for the Z-Fighters. In his base form, Android 13 was stronger than Goku, at one point pinning him down with his powerful SS Deadly Bomber attack.

If it weren't for Vegeta redirecting the attack into the sky and later handling Android 15, Goku would've been overwhelmed if he hadn't been vaporized first.

- Vegeta Saves Goku from Janemba
In the Dragon Ball Z movie Fusion Reborn, Other World found itself turned upside-down after the demon known as Janemba was born. In his initial state, Janemba was more of an annoyance than a true threat; Goku was able to defeat him with his Super Saiyan 3 powers with relative ease. However, after transforming into his final form, known as Super Janemba, he not only got a lot faster, smarter, stronger, and deadlier, but gained a cool sword to boot!

Even with Super Saiyan 3's power, Goku didn't stand a chance against him, and was almost sliced into bits by his Dimension Sword Attack if not for Vegeta swooping in and interrupting the attack. Though Vegeta wasn't enough to handle Janemba on his own either, his presence gave them everything they needed to give birth to Gogeta, who promptly ended the fight.

- Vegeta Saves Goku From Frieza
,and Krillin and Kills Sorbet
While Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Golden Frieza appeared to be evenly matched at the start of their battle, it wasn't long before Frieza's new transformation began to take a toll on his stamina. Fortunately for Frieza, Goku didn't finish him off immediately, giving Sorbet the opportunity to fire his ring laser at Goku. The laser was strong enough to piece Goku's chest, leaving him with a grave wound that left him clinging to life at Frieza's feet.

Whis and Beerus promised not to intervene, meaning that Vegeta was the only one present with enough power to stop Frieza and save Goku, who was being tortured by Frieza. Not only did Vegeta ensure that Goku was given a Senzu Bean, but he made sure to give Frieza the rest of a beating that he definitely deserved.
